The wisdom for promotion – Discovering Your Value

The season of Easter is a season of promotion. I believe the greatest promotion came in the Easter season.  Easter reminds us of how God’s kingdom operates. We will be expounding on the wisdom of promotion. God’s ways are not our ways and his actions are far above what we can ever conceive.

There is an interesting ancient story about a king called King David. When David was a young boy, he was not the preferred child of the family. The father of David, Jesse, had David with an estranged woman. David’s mother was previously married to a man called Nahash and she bore two children. She got separated from Nahash and married a man called Jesse and bore David. David was the 8th child of Jesse but most Jewish people in the days of David believed that his mother committed adultery by marrying Jesse. David felt left out and belittled all his life. David was one of those children that other kids would not be allowed to play with. He lived a lonely and isolated life because of what society perceived him to be (a product of adultery). When the Prophet Samuel came to anoint the next king out of the house of Jesse, David was not even invited to wait in line for the Prophet. David was out in the fields taking care if the sheep since his father, Jesse, was a farmer a son of Ohed and a grandson of Ruth and Boaz who were also great farmers.

When Prophet Samuel passed by the seven sons of Jesse, his stones did not light up. In the days old, when God chose a King, the prophet will come with three transparent stones. These stones would light up as the Prophet approached the selected king. But on this occasion, when Samuel walked and stood in front of all the seven sons of Jesse, these stones did not light up. He was surprised and thought something might be off. This was very unusual as God specifically said that the next king would come from the house of Jesse.

When Prophet Samuel asked Jesse if he had another son, Jesse told him that he had a son called David who was a young boy taking care of the sheep. You see, David was not trained to reign as king. He did not go through the military training. He was the sheep boy. But when the Prophet Samuel heard this, he asked that David should be brought before him. As David approached Prophet Samuel, the three transparent stones lite up and the Prophet anointed David to be the king over Israel. Here is what the Bible says:

2 Samuel 7:8 “Now therefore, thus you shall say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts,” I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people Israel.

Promotion does not come from men. This is great wisdom and I hope that you grasp this wisdom. God is the one who commands promotion to your direction.
This is the reason that you should never give up or be disappointed in life. God promotes you according to His season. There are times when you may feel that you fall short of the requirements. You may not even the person with the required credentials for that role, but just as David, when God’s time arrived, the stones lit up. Your stones are about to light up this season.

Prayer:

Father, I thank you for this season of promotion. I am functioning in your wisdom and I know that my worth is not determined by what men/women say I am. I know that my worth is determined by my relationship with you. I am walking in my season of promotion. There are better days ahead of me and I know that the greater one lives in me and he walks in me. I am convinced that today is my season of promotion in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Get wisdom, get understanding and take charge of your life.
