The Purpose of Wisdom – The BIG picture

As the years go by, I have learned that the time that I have available for other things such as watching a sports events is dwindling.

Most evenings, instead of watching a full soccer match or a rugby match, I would watch highlight. These are little 5 minutes clips of the entire match which shows the great moments of the match such as the goals scored or the great saves.

There are other short clips called bloopers that have to do with all the mistakes and not so good moments in a sports event. I like watching the bloopers as well because they make for a good laugh. If we only focused on the highlights, it would seem as if everything that happened during the soccer match was perfect. It shows every soccer player at their best. On the other hand, bloopers show the worst in a soccer match. It shows every soccer player at their worst moments.

Sometimes we look at the lives of others in highlights. We look at how they seem happy and everything seems to be going on well for them and we feel bad about ourselves. It is very easy to focus on the highlights of others in these days of social media. You might have come across a Facebook photo of your friend who seems to have it all going on for him or her.

In your mind, you might only have bloopers of your life. The disappointments betrayals or lost opportunities. Don’t despair and never give up. If you carefully consider everything in your life, you will realise that you are much better than you think. Don’t be deceived by social media. Most people would post their best moments on social media to create, in your mind, a highlight of their lives. This doesn’t mean that they don’t have the same issues like you do, they just made a conscious effort to post highlights of their lives.

Wisdom - man putting words together

Don’t focus on your bloopers. Instead, thank God for His wisdom and ponder on the life in its entirety.

The Bible says “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who as the called according to His purpose”.

Romans 8:28 “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who as the called according to His purpose”

Your bloopers and highlights are all working together for your good. They may not feel good now but they are ultimately going to work for your good.

Father, I thank you for the year 2018. I know that my life has been destined to move upward and forward. All things are working together for my good. I am divinely positioned for a greater life. I know who I am and I know what I am capable of. Defeat and failures are things of the past. I am matching on to victory in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen

With love,
