It may come to you as a surprise, but there are lots of young men and women who are depressed, disillusioned and have given up on life because they do not know their purpose. On a daily basis, I work as a career Accountant and auditor. It is common to find very depressed Accountants and Auditors. In fact, Accountants and Auditors have been flagged as one of the people with the highest suicide rates.
Despite these statistics, I can confidently tell you that I am one of the most fulfilled and motivated Accountant/Auditor that there is. Inside me, I really feel a deep sense of fulfilment and accomplishment. The reason this is so is because I found out what my purpose was long before I ever pursued the path of Auditing/Accounting.
I discovered that a person who lives out his or her purpose is one who has a vision of the larger picture and someone who is driven by a larger cause. Such a person has gone beyond the sphere of career and is living out their calling. I believe my personal purpose is to inspire and uplift others. This is where I find my deepest fulfilment and, as you will note, it is a far cry from Accounting and Auditing. As a young man, I consistently seek to inspire others through speaking, writing books and leveraging social media. My career and aspirations in life have all been shaped by my purpose. I believe that I am an anointed Accountant or Auditor and I have strategically been placed in this profession to shine the light of God. There is no way that I can be depressed. Depression is one of the fastest growing epidemics of our time; sadly, it preys on those who do not yet know what their purpose in life is. Many have succumbed and taken away their lives because of depression. Here is what the Bible says.
Exodus 9:16 “But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth”.
The Bible speaks of a leader called Moses. When he was born, his family (who were Israelite) feared that he would be killed by the Egyptian army. As a baby, he was placed in a basket and put on a river. The daughters of the Egyptian Pharaoh found him and took great care of him. He was raised as an Egyptian leader and was trained to lead in Egypt. But God had a completely different plan for His life. God called Moses out and told him that the reason that he was raised as a leader in Egypt was so that he would lead his people (the Israelite) out of Egypt.
Purpose always supersedes success or monetary gain. Purposeful living impacts many and requires hard work. More importantly, I believe it requires a divine connection. You could be successful in the eyes of the society, but that doesn’t imply being purposeful. However, when you are purposeful you will also be successful. It is my prayer that you will find your purpose and you will allow the fire of God to burn within your heart and make a difference in your world.
Father, thank you for imparting to me your wisdom. I know why I was created. I believe that I was born for such a time as this to make a difference in my world. I am flourishing and making an impact in my community. You have endowed me with your divine abilities for your glory. I will not be left behind today. I will dust myself and walk tall because I know who I am and why I am here in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen
May you exercise divine wisdom today,
