The Purpose of Wisdom – Gaining access

In our previous text, we came across one of the pivotal teachings of wisdom. It is my prayer that you lay hold of this revelation that wisdom begins when we show reverence to God. Wisdom does not only grant us access to the treasures of heaven, it grants you access to the entire heavenly realm. A believer without wisdom is like a person who has been entrusted with the keys to a safe containing treasures but who does not have the keys to the main gate of the house in which the safe has been placed. Here is what the Bible says

Proverbs 3:13-14  “Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.”

This is the reason why most people labour and sweat without results. The Bible says those who find wisdom are happy. This is because wisdom is more than knowledge. There is a fundamental difference between wisdom and knowledge. Knowledge is acquired by accumulating facts, but wisdom (chochmah) results from insight into the things that are studied. Knowledge speaks while wisdom acts. Knowledge says “by His stripes we were healed”; wisdom leaps, lay his hands on a sick person and declare that “by His stripes you are healed”. The text verse above says the gain from wisdom is better than the gain from silver and gold. This is because, without wisdom, silver and gold (money) will shrink. However, if a person receives wisdom and acts on the words that he/she has received; he/she will prosper and his/her prosperity will multiply.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Jesus used the illustration of a house built on a rock to show the impact of wisdom and a house built on sand to depict the absence of wisdom. Wisdom grants us access to the throne and also acts as a foundation on which our faith is anchored. A person who possesses worldly wisdom and fears not the Lord is as one who designs building a house and completes only the door. This is so true in our world today. This explains why key systems are falling apart. There is a lack of wisdom and insight. God’s wisdom is perfect, He sees each thing in its proper relation to everything else, and so He is able to work toward His predestined goals with flawless precision.

Father, this is my season to flourish in your wisdom. I am built on a solid rock (Christ) who is my wisdom. As a partaker of your inheritance, I have been granted access to the treasures of this world. Success is mine. The prosperous life is mine. My best days are just ahead of me because I function in divine wisdom in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen

With love,
