There are verses in the Bible that are jaw-dropping verses. This verse of today is one of them. The Apostle Peter says we are a Holy Nation. This is mind blowing.
1 Peter 2:9 “…ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”
If you are born again, I have good news for you this week; you are Holy. I know some of you may be wondering how this is possible because most people have always attributed Holiness to religious people who died many years ago. I want us to examine our text verse for today. This text clearly says that “…you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a Holy nation…”
I know those that are spiritual babies may find it difficult to digest this reality but the word of God is clear with respect to your spiritual identity. The only qualification that you required to receive this holiness was confessing the Lordship of Jesus over your life which parachuted you from this world into a holy nation.
When I read this to most folks, they will accept that they are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood but they will disagree when I say they are a holy nation. Let me give you an example; Mount Sinai was described as the Holy Mountain in Exodus 3:5, just because God stepped on it and visited Moses. It had nothing to do with what the mountain did. If people could designate a mountain that God stepped there just for a few days as holy; how much more you who the Bible says you have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of you? (1Corinthians 6:19) So you are also holy. Remember the Holy Spirit is “Holy”, so, wherever He goes, He takes the holy presence with Him. This means the holy presence lives in you and this makes you holy. In our last sentence of our text verse, it says with this revelation, we should show forth the praises of Jesus. This means we should boast in Christ because we are no longer in the dark but in His marvellous light.
I am a Holy nation, a peculiar race and a royal priesthood. I show forth the glory of God wherever I go. I am conscious of my nature in Christ; joy is mine, success is mine and prosperity is mine in Jesus’ name. Amen.
