Why are you on this earth?

I like telling stories, especially my stories, to provide context to the teachings that I write every day. I just believe it is easier to write about stories.

As you know or may not know I am a father to one super active boy and a gorgeous baby girl. When my boy was a bit younger (5 years young), he wanted a handheld video game. I got one for him which had a unique power cable. That cable could only be connected to that game and no other cable worked on that game. Without that cable, the computer game would run out of power. On a certain day, while the house help was cleaning around the house, she came across this cable. She didn’t know what the cable was for and what it was connected to. So she thought it was just a useless piece of cable and she threw it in the bin. A few weeks later, when we tried to recharge the computer game, we could find the cable. As a result, the computer game couldn’t power on and we couldn’t use it.

I used this illustration to help you understand something. I am sure when the house help saw the cable on the floor, she asked: “What is this for?” This is a purpose question. The answer to this question is what you are connected to.

Your purpose on earth depends on what you are connected to.

The purpose of that cable depended on the fact that it was connected to an electronic gaming device. Your purpose on earth as a Christian is dependent on your connection to Christ. The fact that you and I are connected to something bigger than us gives us value.

Whenever someone says they don’t know why they are existing, it simply implies that they have not found what they are connected to. Just as the house help threw away the cable that she found disconnected, the world rejects and throws out those whom they perceive as not connected to something of value.

This is the reason Jesus said ” I am the vine and you are the branches, anyone who is connected to me bears fruits. Those who are not connected to me wither away”.

John 15:4-6Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me. I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned.”

Your connection determines the fruits you bear. Your life on earth is just a bleep in eternity. You are part of eternity, so whatever you do here is just a small part of eternity which you are connected to.

If you are in a local Church, get connected to the vision of that Church. Many are connected to the vision of taking this daily devotional forward. As you connect to a greater vision, your life suddenly begins to find meaning and purpose.

Let me help you make wise decisions and live a fruitful life.

Join me in this prayer of fruitfulness.

Pray aloud:

Father, I disconnect myself from every relationship that is not yielding fruits in my life. I am connected to eternity and to the unending supply of heaven. I know that I am here to establish your kingdom in the hearts of men and women around the world in the mighty name of Jesus; Amen.

If you have prayed this prayer, write to us and we will pray for you and send you materials that will bless you.

Remain fruitful!
