Where is your sling?

There is a point in your life where you need will need to face your fears. There will come a time that you will not rise above your fears. The Bible calls fear a spirit.

God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

Fear is different from fright. When most people think of fear, they feel they are doing pretty good because they hardly get frightened. But this is not true. You cannot be frightened but still live in fear. Let me reveal something to you; if I can summarise sin to you, it is this – fear -. Yes, that is what sin is all about. Consider this; when people lie, they do so because they are afraid of what will happen to them if they spoke the truth – fear. When someone embezzles funds, he’she does so because he/she is afraid that what he has is not enough for him/her and his/her family. Fear is the root cause of dictatorship. Most dictators are afraid of losing power and influence. You can see that fear is a root spirit. .

When David met Goliath, the Bible says Goliath described him as a little boy. Goliath was simply playing mind games because he knew within him that David looked small but he had the courage to stand against him because Isreal was protected by a BIG God. Here is what David said to Goliath that made Goliath to run towards him.

1 Samuel 17:45-47
45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. 47 Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”

The Bible says David later shot a sling and the stone from the sling hit Goliath on his head and he fell flat on his face. But before the sling, David released the words that we read above. These words are the things that really killed Goliath. David might have used the sling as a symbol to destroy Goliath, but the real sling that killed Goliath are these words above. The word of God is like a sling. The word of God is like a sword, some even say it is sharper than a double-edged sword, which means it can cut both ways.

Hebrews 4:12  “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”.

1_Face_your_giant_2.jpgThe methods and schemes of this world are not good enough to succeed against the wiles of the devil. Your education and your university degree will not help you when Satan attacks you. Your religion and culture are not sharp enough to cut through the traps that the enemy has placed against you. In this battle between light and darkness, the word of God is the only weapon that is designed to destroy the enemy at a distance.

Join me in this prayer right now. Claim every word in it as yours and receive it now.

Pray aloud:

Father, I know that your weapons are not man-made. I take up the weapon of faith and the sword of the spirit today. The battle that I am waging is not agaibnst flesh and blood. I am destined to tiumph in this battle and to win everyday in the name of Jesus. Amen.

If you have prayed this prayer, write to us and we will pray for you and send you materials that will bless you.

It is action time!!!
