OUT-DO YOUR PAST

You are victorious everywhere because Jesus defeated Satan everywhere. Satan lost the battle in heaven, on the earth and under the eart – in Hell.

Paul in his letter to the Church in Philippi wanted to share with them the keys to his success and great achievements in Christ. He mentioned to them that he never considered himself to have completed everything, but he presses on towards the things that are before him forgetting what he did in the past.

Philippians 3:13-14 “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

The apostle Paul wants all Christians never to stay at the same level and be contented with their past achievements. He wanted them to out-do their past achievements. What does this mean to us today? I will explain to you. It means that we should always strive to do more than we did yesterday, last week or last year. If you won a certain number of souls for Christ last year, be determined to do more than that this year. If you used to give a particular amount for the furtherance of the gospel last year, be inspired to out-give what you did last year. In all you do, let your past record be a foundation and build up from there.

01-dont-settle-for-lessThe reason for operating with this mindset is because, as Paul mentioned in the last phrase of our text, he presses on toward the mark because there is a high calling of God in Christ Jesus. This means that there is a spiritual promotion that is experienced whenever you start functioning with this revelation. It is my desire that you do excellently above what you did last year. You may have won 10 souls last year, God is happy with you but do not remain there, move forward. You might have healed 5 people last month; that was wonderful but this month, ensure you do more than that.

Join me in this prayer right now. Claim every word in it as yours and receive it now.

Pray aloud:

Dear Father, I am passionate of your word and the impact it makes to my community. I out-do my past this month, I excel this week and triumph in Christ. I am a victor in life and not a victim in the name of Jesus. Amen.
