Our victory in Christ does not have an expiring date and will not commence when we get to heaven. God continues to give us victory now on earth and hereafter.
I noticed something about the boxing sports that got me to ask a few questions at the local gym club. I watched a few young men come in and out for practice sessions. They all looked so excited and pumped up after their training. There was an old man (in his late fifties) that was training next to these young boxers who looked quite calm and focused. I had a question in my mind and was looking for the best person to respond to the question. My question was about the boxing profession. I approached this old man and asked him why boxing champions needed to bring back their belts for a fight in order to retain their titles? I wanted to know why these champions couldn’t just win and retire with their belts? After all, they have reached the pinnacle of their profession and they shouldn’t struggle again to prove that they are champions to anyone.
The response I got from the man was quite surprising. I was told that, in order to retain your title as a boxing champion, you need to keep fighting. A boxing champion eventually loses his title if he refuses to take up a challenge.
1 Corinthians 15:51 says “thanks be unto God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Our victory in Christ is different, it comes from God. We are not supposed to fight for it or keep fighting in order to retain it as boxing champions do. We have been given it and it is final. This verse also shows us that God continues to give us victory. Hallelujah! We are not victorious today and victims tomorrow. We are victorious now and forever in Christ Jesus. Our victory does not depend on our works and efforts, our victory was given to us more than 2,000 years ago. This is why the Bible says in all these things, we are more than conquerors.
To be more than conquerors means that we are not to fight with the devil, we have defeated him already. We don’t quarrel and pick a fight with demons because we have defeated their father lucifer. We are to march for victory and remind satan of his defeat. When that enemy comes close to you and starts provoking you, just start laughing. This is my life, this is who I am and how I react.
Whenever I pick up my cell phone to call a person who has sent me a nasty email or have done something that he/she thinks will offend me, I just burst into laughter over the phone. I cannot and do not allow anyone to dictate my mood. I am victorious and I will forever WIN in the month of March 2017. I have never seen a sad victorious person. I have watched so many rugby and soccer matches, I have seen people who get injured after scoring a try or a goal leap for joy, there is no sad winner. When a winner cries, it is always tears of joy and not tears of pain. This is the type of joy that is contagious. This is the joy that satan hates the most. When you start celebrating your victory in Christ Jesus, just watch those who will start fighting against you. This is how you know that children of God and the children of darkness.
Join me in this prayer right now. Claim every word in it as yours and receive it now.
Father, I thank you for giving me victory. I am more than defeat this month. Satan is under my feet and I have commanded him to remain there as I “March for Victory”. I know that I cannot be defeated because defeat is not part of our family. When Jesus died, He died in my name. When He rose again from the dead, He rose for me to live in total victory. In am victorious right now in Jesus’ name. Amen.
