We have been “bombarded” recently by parents who want their kids to have a playdate with our son. At first, all seemed normal until we became overwhelmed by request from parents. I inquired from one of the parents why she insisted on his child having a playdate with my child. She mentioned that her son seems happier when playing with my son. She also stated that our child is well mannered and he is a good person to talk to and play with. Reflecting on this recently, I am lead to this portion of scripture.
Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men”
If there is anything that you should hold on to, then this revelation is one of them. When you come to the understanding that you are the salt of the earth, the whole world will become your field of operation. Nothing will be too big or too complicated for you to handle.
I want us to examine the text verse here carefully because this was the first public sermon that Jesus preached when He started His public ministry. The Bible accounts that when Jesus saw the people, He climbed up a hill so he could be seen and preached to them.
Matthew 5:1 When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and when He was seated, His disciples came to Him.2
So I want you to see the importance of this message, Jesus wanted every believer to know this, so He had to climb up a hill to deliver this message.
You are the salt of the earth, this means you give flavour and taste to this planet. Have you realised that as a born again believer, many people like to come around you to talk to you or ask for your guidance on life issues? This is because you are the salt of the world. Without you, the world will be tasteless and less enjoyable. Start garnishing the world today with your words. When people listen to you speak, they cannot resist your words because a child of God, your tongues has been garnished by the Holy Ghost.
You are not a spec in this world, in the mind of God, you are the one adding spices to the universe. Salt is also used to preserve perishable food items. In the period where Jesus lived there were no refrigerators so meat and fish were preserved using salt; this means you are the preserving force of this earth. Hallelujah! Without you this earth will rotten away, preserve your world today.
Pray this prayer aloud
Father, I thank you for making me the preserving force and the salt of the earth. I spice my world this week for your glory; in Jesus’ name. Amen.
